More Hardware

I really wanted to use a gretsch style tailpiece and tune-o-matic type bridge.  However, my guitar body does not have the right neck angle. This leaves me with the option of doing a fender-style fixed bridge.   Not a big deal, but will definitely impact the look of the guitar.

I am thinking of going with a top-load tele style half bridge.  After researching it sounds like it will be a fine option.  Here is an exmample.

Hardware

I found some gold filtertrons on ebay for a good price
Unfortunately I didn't notice that the wiring had been cut less than an inch from each pickup.

Decided to go with gold hardware, for no reason other than that is the color of ht pickups that I found.  Fortunately the rings and pickups completely cover the standard humbucker routes on the guitar body.

First Arrival

I found this body on ebay for a steal.  The seller reported this as Honduran mahogany, which is a sought after tone wood for guitar making.  The Gretsch billybos are chambered, but my project will be solid.  I'm not too concerned, there are many great guitars made out of solid mahogany.

BillyBo/ Jupiter

A BillyBo or Jupiter is a unconventionally shaped of a guitar originally created by Bo Diddley and also made popular by Billy Gibbons.  Gretsch has been creating these, though the original Bo Diddley Jupiter was not actually a Gretsch, even though it was built by a Gretsch luthier with Gretsch parts.  Here are some examples.

Background

Here are some pictures and notes on a guitar building/assembling project.  Originally this was supposed to be a simple bolt together project, but it soon turned into quite a bit more.
